SIMStoPTP

Pupil Tracking Ltd is a Capita SIMS Enterprise Partner. Of all our customers 90% use Capita SIMS to manage the majority of tasks in their school but like the simplicity of Pupil Tracking Plus to manage data and reporting.

SIMStoPTP is a Windows service developed by Pupil Tracking Limited. Once installed on the SIMS server in the school it transfers core data to Pupil Tracking Plus. The data Pupil Tracking Plus extracts from SIMS is configured via a series of modules through the administration interface of Pupil Tracking Plus. Details about the modules currently available is provided below.

Pupils Module

When new pupils are added to SIMS the pupils module ensures that they are also added to Pupil Tracking Plus. Pupil details include - UPN, Surname, Forename, Year, Form, DOB and Gender. Users can choose whether to map to the legal or preferred forename and surname data on SIMS.

Classes Module

When classes/sets are updated on SIMS the classes module ensures that sets on Pupil Tracking Plus are updated. The classes module allows users to map a SIMS subject code to a subject on Pupil Tracking Plus. To allow for as many different time table setups as possible the classes module allows users to map a single SIMS subject code to a single PTP subject, multiple SIMS subject codes to a single PTP subject and the same SIMS subject code to mutiple PTP subjects. It also allows the sets to be filtered.

The teachers module provides an application available from the header of each page that enables classes and teachers to be viewed.

Attendance Summary Module

The attendance summary module provides summary attendance data available to teachers and parents through the pupil portal within Pupil Tracking Plus. The charts and graphs can also be displayed as iGoogle gadgets which means that parents who use an iGoogle desktop can monitor attendance data without the need to login to any system. This also means that parents using iPhones can see this data at a glance. You can view a video of this feature here.

Attendance Marks

The attendance marks module provides access to 'Todays Attendance Marks'. This module enables teachers and parents to check whether a pupil has arrived in school on any given day. This is a real time module. Attendance marks can be updated up to 6 times a day at times specified by the school. This module also supports iGoogle gadgets. This means that iGoogle desktop users can see if their child has turned up for school or not without the need to login to any system and iPhone users can glance attendance marks on their iPhone!
